Fresno County Annual Dinner Dance Coat Drive a great success! Thanks to all of the volunteers who made this year’s event even more successful than in the past.
The NLPOA Fresno County Chapter Coat Drive received and purchased over 550 coats for the children of two Elementary Schools in Fresno County. This year there will be more children warm due to the generosity of the people in Fresno, Tulare, Madera, Orange, and Ventura Counties. Many thanks go out to Lieutenant Tony Diaz and the SERT at Corcoran State Prison; Lauren Franco and SynerMed Staff; Fresno County Sheriff’s Foundation for Public Safety and Bonnie Farkas, Pleasant Valley State Prison Staff for contributing a large number of coats.
A sincere thank you goes out to Rosemary Diaz, who has spear headed this event by coordinating the beautiful center piece with the assistance of Maria Ortiz, Bert DeSantiago, Rachel Diaz, Maria Rodriguez and Nancy Dominguez. The center pieces were wreaths decorated with various Christmas Ornaments. All of the 42 wreaths made sold at the event. Rosemary also coordinated the Silent Auction and the registration with the assistance of Kohl’s Associates, who have assisted NLPOA Fresno at our various events throughout the year. A thank you goes out to Sergeant Jose Gutierrez, California Highway Patrol, for coordinating the 50 / 50 contest. This was the first time we had done this type of fundraiser and it proofed to be rewarding. Also to Jerry James, Fresno Grizzlies and Fred Valle, Miller-Coors, for their continued support and prizes for the life auction.
Present at the event was California State President Ralph Nieves and Jill Nieves, State Treasurer Jackie Cruz, NLPOA Founder Vicente Calderon and Frances Calderon. Ralph and Jill enjoyed themselves and contributed to the event by purchasing several of the silent auction items. Way to go Ralph and Jill!
In all, we had a great time listening to the Clovis High School Marimba Band and dancing into the late night with Chelada Band. All of this for the benefit of helping our youth and keeping them warm this winter.
A Big Thank You to all of You for your support and contributions.
