Officer Brad Moody
End of Watch October 8, 2008
Officer Brad Moody, an 8 year employee with our department, was involved in a single patrolcar accident in the morning of October 4, 2008, shortly before 8 a.m. in the City of Richmond.
Officer Moody was responding to a felony in progress detail during this incident. Officer Moody’s patrol vehicle struck a utility pole which caused his severe injuries. Officer Moody was transported to the John Muir Hospital Trauma Center where it was determined that his injuries were not life-survivable. He was on life support as an organ donor. Before he was taken off life support on the early hours of October 7, 2008, Officer Moody was able to save the life of a patient at a San Francisco hospital who was in desperate need of an organ transplant and until Tuesday morning had been given less than a day to live.
Officer Moody has been a long time supporter of the Contra Costa County NLPOA Chapter. He has participated and assisted with our chapter’s fundraisers. He is survived by his wife and two minor children (1 & 4 year old daughters).
Our chapter is respectfully requesting the assistance of our NLPOA family to financially assist Officer Moody’s family with a donation. As you well know we are a small chapter with limited monetary resources. We are all saddened by the unexpected lost of our brother and holding
strong to assure that the needs of his family are met. Thank you for your consideration. I will be opening a separate account for the Moody family. I plan to present Officer Moody’s wife with a check payable to her from the NLPOA soon, as we want her to have no financial issues at this time. Please make checks payable to the Contra Costa County NLPOA Chapter for Officer Moody’s family donation fund (8315 Arroyo Vista Dr., Sacramento, Ca. 95823). The Memorial Service for Officer Moody will be held on Tuesday, October 14 (11:00 am) at the Concord Pavilion in the City of Concord. Any questions please call me at 510-815-1125. We thank you in advance for your assistance.
