R e: Interim National President
It is with great humility and honor that I serve as the Interim National President following the resignation of former National Latino Peace Officers Association President Edwin Maldonado. I would like to thank Edwin, his family and his department for his commitment and service to the NLPOA and wish him the best on his new endeavors and career.
Throughout my 22 year law enforcement career I have met many of you while attending conferences and training throughout this great nation. For many of you who don't know me I have served as the National Central Vice President for the previous 3 years, President of the Greater Dallas Chapter for the past 10 years, and have been a member of the NLPOA for 22 years. On September 20, 2013, I resigned my position as President of the Greater Dallas Chapter along with the position of the National Central Vice President to dedicate my entire time to serve as the Interim National President. As it stands, this term will expire on May 24, 2014. During the 41st National Training Institute and Convention, elections will be held to select a national president for the 2014-2016 term. I fully intend to run and would be honored to serve as your president and continue to fulfill the changes that are currently taking place.
Our association's incredible efforts and dedication to improving and investing in our membership have continued from the very beginning and remains our priority. These values continue to be practiced by our current Executive Board and have propelled us as the most respected Latino law enforcement organization in the nation. I will fulfill my duties and responsibilities with as much fervor and creativity to build on the contributions of those who have served before us.
I will be working with the Executive Board to make an immediate contribution to the continued operation and growth of our organization. We will be asking for your input to help shape the future of the NLPOA and take a fresh look at our existing programs in order to increase our effectiveness. I hope you will roll up your sleeves and join me in creating a world class organization that will achieve national influence.
